Ok all you train spotters...

What exactly does "jump frog" mean on a set of trail road tracks?

  1. I think it may have something to do with a train switching tracks to change direction...just a guess though...:)JP

  3. Look like sparky got the link. Where that sign is located is likely where there is a straight through route and a diverging curved route that's not used often and is used at low speed.

    I'm not really a spotter, but there's a whole bunch of "o" trains running around the upstairs in what should have been extra bedrooms :-)

  6. TCF, it seems Sparky and Brigid got it right. A Jump Frog is a mechanism that causes the train to switch tracks.

    I still think the sign is too funny though!
